Supporting childbearing women in vulnerability and financial hardship
Doulas Without Borders is a voluntary network, offering accessible grass roots services to women experiencing multiple disadvantage and financial hardship during pregnancy, birth and early motherhood. We currently have over 200 volunteers.
Our focus is on providing the emotional, physical and informational support which is crucial during pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.
We provide accessible pregnancy, birth and postnatal support for those in financial hardship who are, for example: survivors of domestic / sexual violence, refugees / asylum seekers, experiencing homelessness, experiencing baby loss, aged under 20 and without adequate support and survivors of human slavery / trafficking. (We do accept referrals on a case-by-case basis, so if you think your nominee might 'qualify', but their situation doesn't entirely correlate with any of the examples given above, please do contact us).
A calm, supported mother who is able to bond with her baby, moves society one step closer to a resilient, connected and well-adapted next generation.
